R8 / R8S / R8G

A bit of history about the Renault 8 and its sports version R8 Gordini.

The R8 (R1130), launched in 1962, established itself as a compact rear-engined saloon, renowned for its modern design and robustness. In 1964, the Renault 8 Gordini 1100 (R1134) and the R8G 1300 (Type R1135) were introduced, sports versions developed under the direction of Amédée Gordini, offering superior performance and a more dynamic look. In parallel, the Renault 10 (R1190 and R1192), launched in 1965, was presented as a more comfortable and better equipped version, based on the 8 platform but with improved design and features. The Renault 8 range was enriched with the R8 Major (R1132) and Renault 8 S (R1136), offering variants with different levels of comfort and performance. The Renault 8 continued to make history until its end of production in 1973 and replaced by the Renault 12.
