Description

Koni Shock Absorber Adjustment Instructions:

We recommend installing your shock absorbers as you received them (minimum spring rate).

Internal adjustment allows you to modify the rebound damping, that is, the force with which the shock absorber controls the spring's return.

  • Preparation:

This type of adjustment is done off the vehicle, with the shock absorber fully compressed.

On some internally adjustable shock absorbers, a protective stop located in the dust cover must be removed before adjustment.

    • Marking:

It is recommended to mark the tube and the dust cover before making the adjustment.

      • Engaging the mechanism:

Gently compress the shock absorber until it reaches the bottom and stops. Slowly turn the stem or dust cover counterclockwise until you feel the tabs click into place.

    • Adjusting:

With the shock absorber compressed and the adjustment tabs engaged, the adjustment can then be made.

Turn clockwise to increase the damping force (Tighten = Firmer shock absorber, therefore stiffer spring rate)

Turn counterclockwise to return to the initial setting (Unscrew = Softer shock absorber, therefore softer spring rate)

It is recommended to make adjustments of half a turn (180 degrees) for a more noticeable feel. The total range of use may vary, but is generally between 4 and 6 half-turns.

Important: The setting must be identical on the right and left.

      • To finalize the operation:

Pull the shock absorber vertically (without rotating it) by 1 cm to disengage the adjustment mechanism. If a bump stop has been removed, be sure to replace it in the correct position to avoid any risk of internal damage.

    • Technical Tip:

If you are a beginner or do not require any specific adjustments, we recommend installing your shock absorbers as delivered: they are set to the minimum original spring rate, which is suitable in most cases.
